Introduction…

I’m a guitar instructor with over 35 years of experience. I’ve taught students ranging in age from six to sixty—and almost every style of music imaginable.

I formally studied music at the University of Idaho, majoring in Music Composition and at Spokane Falls Community College.

My teaching style is friendly and accessible—but rooted in strong music fundamentals. While I enjoy teaching advanced students, I truly get a great sense of satisfaction teaching beginners. They’re a blank canvas—and it’s both fun and challenging to expose them to the fundamentals of great musicianship, in addition to their favorite songs or licks.

In addition to pursuing a professional music career, I’ve also worked as a designer for the past twenty years. I started in print and web design, and for the past 10 years have been a software product designer.

I was laid off from my product design job last year and still looking for a new job. It’s tough out here. In the meantime, I thought it would be a good idea to explore teaching guitar again—not only to make a couple of extra bucks, but to reconnect with aspiring guitar players. I wouldn’t be half the musician I am today if I hadn’t taught lessons for all those years.

Production & Mixing of James Dupre’s “Another Love Song”

This is a song that I recently produced and mixed for a Produce Like a Pro mix contest. I replaced all the guitars (played by top Nashville session players), added keyboards, drum loops and percussion. This is a good example of my playing and production style.
